Day 1: MULTI-SURFACE ALBUM

January 23, 2010, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Scrap.Abode

In this class, you will be making a multi-surface album, marrying mixed-media techniques with scrapbooking.

This is a mini-album project loaded with techniques which can be applied to card making, altered art, fabric crafts, and scrapbooking. We will be working with chipboard, canvas, paper, and transparency. Art materials will include gel medium, paint, alcohol ink, pigment powders, lacquer, glitter, ink, and pearl mica powders. It will be messy - but fun!

 If you are fond of using art supplies in your projects then you will enjoy this class. If you are new to art mediums and would like to try your hand at it, then this is a great class for you. This way you can try out the techniques without having to invest in purchasing full sized bottles of the art materials which can be very expensive.

DAY 2 : ARTIST'S TRAY

January 24, 2010, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Scrap.Abode

We will be making a 3-D Collage Artist Tray project incorporating many techniques and details.

You will learn how to create texure and etched images with modeling paste. You will also be playing with a lot of paint, distressing mediums, mists, & inks.

Shabby Chic Classes

I just came back from spending a weekend at Brunei where I taught for two days at Shabby Chic. I had such a wonderful time there meeting the scrappers and finding new friends. The classes were fun and we hardly noticed the passing of four hours. Beverly and Irene who are the owners of Shabby Chic took us out several times to try the fabulous food at Brunei. The food was great! And the accomodation was also wonderful. The room was HUGE!! I was glad Bry accompanied me. It was good to be able to spend some time just as a couple again. I also got a chance to see most of the tourist attractions of Brunei last Monday and learned a bit about their culture.

Glass Frame On Easel

Hi everyone! It's DAY 4 of our Christmas Crop over at INSPIRE ME! It's so fun to be able to start experiencing the joy of the season this early! If you need to know more about the Christmas Crop please check HERE.

For my project, I wanted to create something special for the family to enjoy. I started making it an annual tradition to have one Christmas decor in our house featuring a recent photo of our family. This way as the years go by, I will have one treasure box filled with memories of all of our Christmases. This year is very special to me because we have one beautiful addition to our family - my 10 month old baby Cheska:)

I once said I can live without die-cutting machines...

... ah I take it back!! I am loving my MM slice machine so much!! I got this cute little tool a week ago from Lasting Impression and I just found the time to play with it last night. Needless to say, I lost precious sleep time but I did finish this layout for my friend and scrapping buddy Ems Fronda.

 
 

The bird, key, circle frame, and the elaborate frame were all cut using the slice machine and the Vintage Findings design card. I am addicted! It's so small and portable. And you can easily use your scraps of paper to create die-cuts. For my scrappy friends in Manila, Vivian still has the Vintage Design card. Go call her now!:)

Class For A Cause (01) is LIVE

In the mean time, I would like to share with you this layout of Nicole from last year's trick or treat. Can you tell which Disney Princess she was? Belle! This layout appeared in the October Issue of Memory Makers Magazine. It is their last issue which makes me really sad. But they will still continue to publish  books.

All About Me Blog Hop!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my stop in the All About Me Blog hop! I am so honored to be their guest designer for this month. All About Me is a challenge blog with sketches and fun challenges along with some great manufacturer sponsors. They also have a very talented design team. You can find more about them here.

The theme for the blog hop is "Free to be Me" and the layout challenge is "I can not live without..." Here is the layout I made for the challenge.

 

We were also asked to answer the following... Read on if you can... with the risk of boring you.. here goes...

1. My childhood ambition: To be a concert pianist, did I reach that goal? NO! I only got as far as learning a concerto, but no concert for me sadly.

2. My retreat: A couple of hours in a quiet corner in a bookstore

3. The perfect day:

A holiday - so my husband has the day off too - spending late morning breakfast in bed, having lunch with the whole family, then heading off to the mall for a fun day with the kids, cake and coffee for afternoon snack, pasta and ribs for dinner, kids go to bed, quality time with hubby, then cap the night off with a quick scrapbook page.

4. My first job was: A workshop speaker for a book company.

5. My wildest dream: do session music with a jazz band!

6. If my life was a musical it would be called: The Fiddler On The Roof

7. My proudest moment:When my eldest first gave me a "love letter" . She was only four at that time and the love letter consisted of a drawing of a heart... and random letters written inside the heart!!  Love ... letters.... get it?? LOL! So Cute!)

8. My favorite item of clothing: white Nike Jacket. Casual but dressy enough for a late night movie - yet sporty enough to be used for an early morning run

9. I feel ready for the day when I: start it with a good cardio workout. Otherwise I just pig out all day!

10. I COULD live without: die-cutting machines - but never without spring back scissors!

Several updates... Loooong Post

All the proceeds will go to the relief operations for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) here in The Philippines. You still have time to sign up. I recently participated in an auction for the talented ANAM and I was more than happy to create this layout for the fund raising. I don't have a little boy so this was such a treat for me. Specially because I made this page for such a cute little boy with the sweetest kindest look on his face.

Over at the Webster's pages Inspire Me Site, we are thrilled to have the amazing Karola Witczak as the November Guest Designer. I am in awe of all of her pages and she is such nice and sweet person too. Here is my take on the DT lift. I notice that she always uses muted colors in her photographs so I reduced the colors in my photos and added a brown hue. Check out the rest of the DT lifts as well as more of karola's pages HERE.

Finally, I would like to greet all of you a Happy Halloween!! Here is a photo of my daughter Nicole with her favorite cousin Miguel..

 

Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate that day. The trick or treat in our village was canceled so we had to rush to another halloween activity at The Fort. Needless to say we were late so they were not happy with their loot! So we had to compensate by giving them play passes at TimeZone (Kid's activity place in Manila).
