October Layouts for Lasting Impression

Hi everyone! I just want to share a couple a layouts I made for Lasting Impression...

This first one features papers from the new My Mind's Eye Sophie collection, die-cut papers and metal charm from The Girl's Paperie "Paper Girl", and Hambly Overlay. All materials available at Lasting Impression.

 

This next one is another layout created with My Mind's Eye "Sophie"collection, together with The Girl's Paperie "On Holiday" die-cuts and Cosmo Cricket "Joy Ride" chipboard.

All mists used in both layouts are by Memories Mist. You have to try this line of mists. It contains more pigment than most of the other brand of mists and it does not warp your paper.

You may also want to try Memories Mist "Vivid" line. It has an acrylic paint-like effect. Very opaque and you can even achieve a nice paint-like texture with it.

Aussie Scrap Source and Basic Grey!

I'm very happy to announce that I have just joined the design team of Aussie Scrap Source - a wholesale distributor of well-loved scrapbook products in Australia. I was asked to be a guest in their blog a few times before and I remember bookmarking their site because it was a great source of inspiration. I feel very honored to be asked to join their team of talented artists.

For those of you who have known me for a long time, you must already know that my first love in terms of scrapbooking products is Basic Grey. I still remember hoarding my BG sheets from Nette Madero of My Little Attic. The first ever challenge I joined was that of Basic Grey (through My Little Attic). You can just imagine how thrilled I was to receive an invitation to design for a company I truly admire and respect. 

I just received my 1st box of goodies from Basic Grey and I am soooo excited to start working on their amazing line of products. 1st in line would be the beautiful CURIO collection! I can't wait!

Published Layout and Flower Tutorial...

I just want to share a layout I made for Webster's Pages which was published in Scrapbooking M.M. I love this magazine. The layouts they publish are technique driven and they provide step by step instructions. It's a Swedish magazine though. If only there was an English version I would be first in line to subscribe.

 

Here are some pictures that will give you an idea on how I made the flowers...

 

You will need a circular chipboard. Put some tacky glue on the chipboard and start folding and adhering the canvas to it. Top the flower with a brad or a button.

 

A strip of soft lace will work beautifully with this. All you need to do is gather the lace and secure the center with a wire. It will spread out on its own but you can help fix the shape by gently pulling the lace to the direction you want it to go. Again top it with a brad or a button.

These buds are my favorite. The wire will secure the canvas to the stamen. To hide the wire, just cover it with some velvet ribbon.

Prima and The Color Room Palette #23

We are slowly going back to our normal crazy schedule now that my Dad is getting better. We came home yesterday and as much as I loved being very near my Dad (we all stayed at a hotel next to the hospital), I sure did miss my room and my old reliable desktop computer. Anyway, here are a couple of pages I'd like to share with you...

This first one is for The Color Room, palette #23 where I used a lot of Prima Goodies. The edges of the paper were stamped with and old set of Wood Mounted Stamper's Anonymous Rubber Stamps and was inked and painted over...

My little Sleepy Head Cheska... she woke up in the middle of her sleep and thinking that we were all asleep.. she headed off to her favorite hiding place.. the cabinet! Good thing I caught her doing the act and was able to snap a picture of her. Love that startled look on her face...

 

Next one is a layout I made for the September GDT Lift over at Webster's Pages. Our Guest for this month is the amazing Christine Middlecamp! I used the new "Sweet Season" papers from Webster's Pages here...

He is safe now...

Thank you so much to everyone who said a prayer for my Dad (Ernesto .. fondly called "Ernie" by his friends and family). He had a quintuple (five) heart bypass surgery last Thursday. He is stable now and is on his way to recovery. We got really scared last Thursday night. He was in the operating room for more than seven hours. 7 hours AFTER the surgery, he still would not wake up. The doctors warned us of the dangers of this. They had a suspicion that he may have had a stroke during the operation. My mom was already breaking down..  We were viewing him from a small window and other people were also trying to catch a glimpse of their loved ones during the short 30 minute viewing time. My husband was then at my back as I was hugging my mom.. despite being in the company of so many strangers he boldy lifted his hands over our heads .. reaching his hands out to my Dad in prayer. He asked our Lord to give my Dad life, to allow him to wake up and have his life extended through his grace.... in a few seconds, my Dad slowly moved his feet and was awake a few seconds after. I believe that was a miracle.

Right now his blood pressure, kidney function, and blood sugar level is being monitored. He is still in the ICU but will be moved to a regular room tomorrow. He is safe now... Thanks to all of your prayers. Our Lord always sees and carries us through difficult times. He provides for all our needs and he does it in ABUNDANCE.

My Dad...

This is going to be the first time I will post about something very personal and private. This blog has been solely for sharing projects... but I just feel the need to do this now.

The sweet smiling man you see here is my Dad. This was taken about a year ago during Cheska's dedication. He is shown here with my Mom and my daughter Cheska. Tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Manila time, my Dad will be undergoing a heart bypass surgery. He is 73 years old and is diabetic. He also suffers from arthritis. We need prayers... prayers for healing, for provision, for strength, for courage. We also need to ask for provision of type O blood. There has been a shortage of type O blood in the blood banks. The Lord has provided for his immediate blood replacement requirements but we may need more. Please help me pray for my father. You may know me only through this craft and through this blog, but I know that each and every single prayer uttered for my father will bless him and strengthen not only him but our family as well. The only immediate family he has here is me, my mom, and my grandma. We need courage and strength. We humbly ask for your prayers.
