Hi everyone! I'm up to my neck with deadlines and class projects but I find that making art journal pages relaxes me and takes the strain out of having to continually meet design requirements. It's fun and liberating. You can work with whatever supplies you have, whatever mediums, you can decide on your theme, etc etc. Here is a page I made as a guest designer over at Once Upon a Sketch. I had no photo to fit their theme so I thought... art journal!
The theme was about missing someone or a loss. I wanted to do something for my Grandma. She used to be by roommate when I was a little girl. We used to talk in the middle of the night and I would ask her random stuff just to keepher awake and make sure that I am not the only one left awake at night. She would make pretty dresses for me and cook wonderful meals... She is very old now and has changed so much. It's just so sad to see her in the state she is in now and I miss the way that she was. The collage photo I used here in not of hers, but the lady in the collage print looks so much like my grandma in her youth...
I used here a lot of gesso, structuring medium, vintage glass glitter, glass bead gels, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, and pigment powders.
This next one is for a course I was taking with Nana Campana - "Ashes To Beauty". The phrase "DO not Worry, Do SING", is how I feel when we sing prasies at Church for our Sunday Service.
I used three colors of Distress Stains on watercolor paper, and the new WOW embossing powders in Ultra High Gold and Copper plus the Angel Wings powder. The stamps are by Suzy West for WOW embossing Powders, brads from BasicGrey, and everything else is by Hambly Screen Print Designs.
