Remember I told you before about a wooden birdhouse that I found in a street market a few years back? It was cream colored and blended with my old space but since I changed the color scheme of my room, I wanted this little treasure of mine to blend in as well. So I used it as my inspiration piece for an assignment I had with Aussie Scrapsource for a weekend inspiration post for Tattered Angels.
It went from this..
to this...
I first coated the wooden piece with white gesso. After it dried I painted the roof and the base with a deep shade of red. After the paint dried, I then misted it with "Mel's Diner" which is a glimmer mist in a rich shade of red.
For the body, I painted a thin coat of white paint over the gesso just to make sure that the entire surface is painted in white. I then added strips of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape in random areas. On the left and right sides of the bird house, I applied a glimmer screen before misting it again with “Mel’s Diner”.
To finish the entire piece,I added a Prima Vine to the roof and applied some “Twinkle Toes” glimmer glam over pearl mica flakes which resulted in the silver glittery chunks you see on the roof.
Hope I was able to share some useful tips to those who are just staring to alter things.
